If you’ve ever dreamed of staying in a Luxury Log Cabin, a Handcrafted Yurt or a Cosy Shepherd’s Hut, Willowtree Glamping are ready to make that dream a reality. Here, owner Ciara Tiernan tells us why Willowtree should be your next romantic getaway…

Ciara, tell us how Willowtree came about. What’s the story behind it?

Willowtree Glamping was founded by husband and wife team Ciara and Derek Tiernan, inspired by their own magical honeymoon in South Africa nearly 20 years ago. They envisioned creating a special place filled with positive energy, where guests could feel truly special. Willowtree is designed to promote rest and relaxation, helping guests recuperate from their busy lives.

Over the past four years, we have welcomed many repeat visitors and have inspired numerous guests to embrace a more relaxed lifestyle, even  career changes. We are passionate about Willowtree and love witnessing the transformation in our guests from the moment they arrive to the moment they reluctantly leave.

Where is it located? What are the nearest attractions?

Willowtree Glamping is nestled on the cuff of  the picturesque Annalong, offering a tranquil retreat surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Nearby attractions include The Mournes, The Silent Valley, Crandfield Beach and Tollymore, Castlewellan, Mourne, and Kilbroney Forrest Parks, making it an ideal base for exploring the local area. Whether you’re interested in hiking, visiting historical sites, or simply enjoying the scenic views, there’s something for everyone nearby.

What exactly is a “yurt”?

A yurt is a traditional, round tent-like structure originally used by nomadic peoples in Central Asia. Our yurts are modern, luxurious versions of these ancient dwellings, designed to provide a cosy and stylish retreat. Hand-built using steam-bent ash and colourful canvas, they are spacious and include a king-size bed, wood-burning stove, and all the comforts of a cabin.

What makes your accommodation luxury?

Our accommodations are created and built for luxury and comfort. Each cabin is meticulously hand-crafted by us, uniquely capturing the breath-taking views of both the Mourne Mountains and the sea. Each is positioned to enjoy both the sunrise and sunset, all cabins feature king-sized beds, private hot tubs, fire pits, and BBQs. Although rustic they have modern cooking facilitates and coffee machine for our guest convenience. Each has private toilet and shower facility including heated rain showers again, each is unique some just outside the cabin to maximise the views and for privacy from your guest! Three of our cabins are fully enclosed, making them ideal for guests with pets. Each accommodation is tastefully and uniquely decorated with high-end furnishings and equipped with modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable and unforgettable stay, no two accommodations are the same.
