If you’re exploring the Ardglass area and need a great place to stay, check out The Anchor Apartments! Here’s what the owner, Bronach, had to say about her fantastic accommodation.
The Anchor Apartments are a stylish, newly-renovated set of self-catering apartments based in the heart of Ardglass, County Down. We’re open all year round.
I own a post office and shop, and was purchasing my own premises when an opportunity arose to renovate the upstairs. There was a gap in the market (especially in the local area) for accommodation for tourism, so I took the plunge!
There are two separate apartments. The back apartment comfortably caters for two but has an option for a third person. The front apartment sleeps four.
We provide all the basic amenities, to include: foldable cot, clothes rack, ironing facilities, cleaning products, toiletries, hairdryer, kids games, books, teas/coffees and treats on arrival. The front apartment is the bigger of the two so it has room for a washing machine. Both apartments have a power shower and separate bath.
Firstly, there’s Ardglass Golf Club, an 18-hole clifftop links course, boasting the oldest clubhouse in the world, right on our doorstep. Fishing off the rocks at the local harbour is also a great option, as well as taking a boat trip. Clearsky at Castle Ward for all water sports is only a ten minute drive away. Castle Ward is also home to many a Game of Thrones tour. We are also an excellent base for walking trips, with the Lecale Way walk running through Ardglass.
To retire to the sun when I’ve made my millions through the apartments!
Sitting with a beer overlooking the view from the front apartment on a beautiful summers day, or even a wintery evening with the waves crashing against the rocks.
