Blue Door Apartments

We are a second generation running a small café as a family business on Newcastle main street. We decided to expand our business with visitors in mind as we recognised many people want to visit and enjoy our small seaside town set in an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”

We converted former business premises above our café, creating five self-contained luxury apartments over two floors with views of the famous Mourne Mountains.

Blue Door Apartments are centrally located in the heart of Newcastle, a two-minute stroll from the promenade and beach, four-minute walk to both the famous Royal County Down and Mourne golf courses, and within easy travel distance of many popular attractions.

Our apartments are ideal for golf enthusiasts, hikers and beach combers, while more relaxed holiday seekers will enjoy the many local pubs, cafes, shops and hotels on the doorstep.

We opened our Blue Door Apartments in July 2020 with accommodation for 17 guests over 5 apartments.

“Blue Door” 4* serviced guest accommodation is Northern Ireland Tourist Board certified. Each apartment is designed for your comfort, and features either double or king-size beds.

Nothing beats the luxury of relaxing in bed at the end of a long day. Our beds feature luxury hotel quality linen, and the bedrooms are designed for a relaxed stay.

There is excellent storage for clothes, shoes etc., including an iron and ironing board to “iron out any creases” from travel! We provide individually designed bathrooms with walk-in showers and heated towel rails. For your comfort, we provide complimentary shower gel, shampoo, tissues and luxurious white hotel standard bath and hand towels.

“Blue Door” apartments feature individually designed living spaces with well-stocked kitchen units, where you can enjoy a relaxing coffee or even prepare a meal if you are too tired to eat out!

We provide complimentary breakfast for guests in the adjoining family-run  “Shimna Café” where we offer a choice of a cooked “Irish Breakfast” or a Continental breakfast in our family-friendly café.

We are pleased to go the extra mile to make our guests feel welcome and our apartments feel like home away from home!

We additionally offer a quick and secure check in procedure including a key code to access the front entrance, a private and secure “drop box” for each apartment with a dedicated access code, emailed to our guests individually prior to arrival. This offers a seamless, no delay check in at any time-afternoon or evening.

We also provide 24h CCTV security cover in all public areas (entrance, stairs and landings). To ensure your safety and well being at all times we are always there for you, should you need us.
